Colic/Reflux
Colic & Reflux Assessment
Supporting families to understand the root cause of infant colic, reflux, and wind
Book an AppointmentColic and reflux are often signs, not diagnoses
Many infants presenting with colic, reflux, or excessive wind are experiencing difficulties with feeding function. At NTTC, we take a root-cause approach — assessing feeding mechanics, oral structure, and overall infant wellbeing to identify what is driving the symptoms, rather than simply managing them.
What We Assess
Feeding Function
A functional feeding evaluation with our IBCLC assesses latch quality, milk transfer, swallowing pattern, and the amount of air ingested during feeds — all key contributors to colic and wind symptoms.
Oral Restriction
Tongue tie and lip tie directly affect how an infant feeds and how much air they swallow. Dr Justin Roche assesses for oral restrictions and advises on whether division is indicated.
GI & Structural Factors
Where feeding-related causes have been addressed, Dr Roche can assess for other structural and gastrointestinal contributors to reflux and colic, and guide appropriate management.
What to Bring
Please bring your baby due a feed. The feeding evaluation is a core part of the assessment and allows our IBCLC to observe a full feed before Dr Roche's examination.
