01
Infant symptoms

Newborn & infant - feeding & early function

Feeding difficulties in the first weeks and months of life are the most common presentation of tongue tie. These symptoms often affect both infant and mother simultaneously.

02
Child symptoms

Child - speech, eating, sleep & oral function

In children beyond infancy, tongue tie tends to present through oral motor function - how they eat, speak, breathe, and sleep. Many children are referred by speech and language therapists, orthodontists, or dentists.

03
Adult symptoms

Adult - pain, posture, sleep & function

Adult tongue tie is frequently missed or dismissed. Many adults live for decades with compensatory patterns - in jaw mechanics, swallowing, posture, and breathing - before the root cause is identified.

04
All ages

All ages - history, previous treatment & family patterns

Some presentations are not defined by age but by clinical history - a tongue tie missed earlier in life, a release that did not hold, or a family pattern that points to a hereditary component.
